Butler identifies economic development as a key issue in council race
Economic development is consistently cited as a major concern in improving the well-being of struggling communities like District B. Economic development policy is oriented to businesses and encouraging business investment and improve business productivity, with a desired overall effect of increased employment and personal incomes.
"Economic Development in District B is my number one priority. We must help people who could start business in our communities, along with using effective local government policies and nonprofits contributions to attract outside businesses to District B communities. This will stimulate jobs creation for District B residents allowing more opportunities, income and better lives", said Butler.

Broderick F. Butler officially announced his run for Houston City Council, District B
Today, Broderick F. Butler formally announced the start of his campaign to seek the office of Houston City Council, District B. He is running a "people=centric" campaign.
"I'm officially announcing my candidacy by filing to be on the November 5th ballot. I look forward to earning the vote of every person in District B as I wish to represent them. I've heard I'm at my best when I'm fighting for people-Which is why my campaign is people-centric. We must take back our communities, help shape their futures, to foster change, but more importantly foster a new day of change in District B".
Issues he plans on attacking include securing funding for better roads, sewer and drainage upgrades, more flood mitigation, education, jobs and most importantly economic development for District B.
"I've chosen to take on issues that are now generational with the years of neglect and underrepresentation, so it will take years to resolve. But, I believe my candidacy is a start to that new day. We rise and fall a community. We have to do this together....for together, we are stronger, together we are better, together we will achieve a new day in District B!"
