New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community
"My name is Broderick Butler and I am a native son of the northeast Houston neighborhood of Scenic Woods. I am ready to fight for increased city services, more economic development, a reduction in crime, promoting education and providing a fair and equitable use of our tax dollars for District B residents.
I am a graduate of Forest Brook High School and I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin majoring in government. I worked my way up from an intern to a chief of staff for various state legislators during a 20+year career in public policy and public service. Upon my return home to my beloved neighborhood in Scenic Woods to help care for my aging mother. I saw that it was in the same condition as when my family moved here in the 70s: for me, very little had changed over the last 49 years later, so I decided to work with my neighbors, community leaders and stakeholders to create a safer, better served community.
While I was volunteering with my neighbors during the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, I came to see how disconnected we were from City Hall. We were not getting the resources or attention needed to address the public health and safety needs of our residents. Many lives of the people in northeast Houston are still turned upside down a full two years after Harvey. I also saw this same neglect of my community while growing up, and decided it is time for it to stop and I decided to get involved. That is why I'm running, '...to make my community better..."
My plan is to promote education, cut crime and stimulate economic development in District
Today is a new day! If you want a revolution in our communities! Because, I will demand District B residents be treated as citizens of the FIRST CLASS as their City Councilmember.
Again my name is Broderick Butler, Candidate for Houston City Council District B".
